July 2024 - Present
Designed, fabricated, and was awarded a trade secret award for a novel cable fixturing device, saving an estimated $10,000. Modelled and fabricated TR Module removal tool to prevent damage and rework, estimating $10,000 of savings. Modified an existing cable design to be more modular and reduce rework costs by $4000 per cable after connector ends were damaged. Designed flow balancing test fixture for heat exchanger modules on the Swordfish Maritime Patrol Aircraft. Designed vibration testing fixture to evaluate RF, power, and fluid connections on the next generation MESA Antenna. Applied DFM techniques and performed tolerance stackups to validate the manufacturability and performance of designs. Drafted and released 20+ revision notices to production parts and drawings for the MESA USAF program
June 2023 - September 2023
Designed and constructed an environmental heating chamber to run mechanical tests at controlled, varying temperatures. Performed high-precision tension, compression, and torsion tests on components of the DaVinci surgical robot. Conducted statistical analysis of mechanical test results (t-tests, curve fitting, etc.) to validate supplier changes .
May 2022 - August 2022
Designed and conducted three thermal cycling experiments to validate the insulation used in the Form 3L SLA 3d printer. Performed root cause analyses and wrote a ten-page validation report for a mechanical design improvement for the Fuse 1 SLS printer. Conducted a full system audit of all serviceable fasteners on the Fuse 1 SLS printer and created a low-cost replacement hardware kit for our field technicians. Submitted 15 product-wide Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) based on the results of my own validation experiments.
August 2021 - December 2021
Helped design an automatic red onion seedling planter to automate the laborious process for farmers in Bangladesh. Constructed the seedling planter using sheet metal and stainless-steel parts while adhering to a $1000 budget. Made design decisions to reduce the machine's material cost and assembly complexity so that it would be manufacturable by rural Bangladeshi factories. Tested individual subsystems (hopper, dispenser, etc.) and overall mechanism for three months before shipping to Bangladesh.
August 2020 - August 2021
Performed heat load calculations to size HVAC systems for 20+ Atlanta buildings including Ponce City Market. Published 20+ mechanical drawing sets that are being used in projects such as the 18th floor renovation of the Atlanta Financial Center. Coordinated HVAC and Plumbing layouts with major Architectural firms such as Cooper Carry on a $234,000 project.
January 2021 - May 2021
Helped develop a combustor flame vibration transfer function for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on a $260,000 budget project. Aided graduate researcher in designing the experimental setup to perform 85 tests over a six-month period. Designed a sheet metal model of the overall testing rig in SolidWorks to be fabricated in the laboratory's machine shop. Helped assemble the testing rig and its 15+ wiring and air supply connections.
April 2019 - December 2019
Worked with team to explore the industrial potential for supercritical CO2 for use in heat transfer systems. Created a MATLAB program to process ~8000 images to extract data on the rate of supercritical CO2 evaporation in the heat exchanger.
